Marcus tries to explain the situation to his boss. Sean makes the situation worse by walking in to defend him. Sunita tries to keep the inspector in the kitchen while Eva looks for the rat but Eva is squeamish and calls in Craig. Peter argues with Nick after overhearing him offering Leanne a job at the bistro. Sunita spots the rat on the bar and hides it behind her back while the inspector is in the room. Craig catches it but it escapes again. Peter laughs off Carla's suggestion that he is acting out of jealousy of Nick being with Leanne. Sean and Marcus talk things over. Sean explains his insecurity as being caused by Marcus's removal of affection. Marcus says he has never looked at another man. Marcus admits he wants a family and asks Sean to reconsider adoption or surrogacy. The inspector passes the Rovers and leaves. Nick accepts Peter's offer of a truce. Marcus is afraid if he stays with Sean he'll end up hating him. Sean realises they have to split and is devastated. Mary spends time with Roy while Norris and Hayley are at a dance class. Marcus goes to stay with Maria again and tells her he's finished with Sean. Sean is comforted by Eileen and Julie.
