Plot[]
Part One: Annie has got herself out of her sickbed, in a state of deep anxiety that she's lost Billy for good. She refuses to listen to Emily's entreaties to rest. Billy has finished his packing but remains cold towards his mother. Ken and Val tell Minnie they're taking her out tomorrow night for a surprise treat to thank her for her babysitting. Annie is adamant that she did the right thing, but Billy accuses her of wrecking his happiness where women are concerned. Annie breaks down when she realises that he hates her. Jack steps in and tells him to be kind to his mother, citing all that she's done for him. Dickie tells Ken and Val that Audrey can't now babysit as she's working. He and Elsie refuses to take Audrey's place so Ena is the only option. Billy goes for a night out to clear his head. Ena feels that the Barlows should be treating her. She discovers from Minnie that Ken intends to ask her to babysit. Ray upsets Gordon by calling Maggie a "bird" who Len is taking out. He goes for him and Len has to step in. Ray tells Len to sort out his feelings for Maggie.
Part Two: Billy calls on Elsie to try and find out who was it who caused Jasmine to see through Annie. From her reply, she realises it was Emily. Len insists that Maggie deals with Gordon's feelings of jealousy and tell him that they're just good friends. Ena agrees to babysit for 5/- an hour plus two milk stouts and the Barlows television being fixed for her to watch. Gordon questions why Les isn't coming back. Maggie tells him that her private life is private. Billy has been drinking. In anger, he tells his mother that Emily was responsible for Jasmine finding out what she really thought of her. Ray can't get the Barlows' television working. Annie accuses Emily of hypocrisy and betrayal but Emily stands her ground, saying she was being honest. She insists she had a right to be Jasmine's friend, not Annie's, and refuses to be Annie's scapegoat. Annie tells her to leave the Rovers and live somewhere else.
