Fabian Cartwright was born in 1961 in Belfast and trained as an actor at the Webber Douglas Theatre School. On the stage he appeared in Shadow of a Gunman and participated in seasons with the Lyric Players, Belfast. Other plays included Joyriders, Public Enemy and McAlpine's Fusiliers. On film he appeared in Kenneth Branagh's production of Henry V and his television work included Lost Belongings, God's Frontiersmen and on Coronation Street he appeared in the role of Billy Wyatt in March and April 1988

Just over one year later, on 17th July 1989, a promising career was cut short when the actor was tragically drowned while on holiday in Barbados.
