Jack Watson (born "Hubert Watson" on 15th May 1915 in Thorney, Cambridgeshire; died 4th July 1999 in Bath) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between September 1961 and January 1984 as Naval CPO Bill Gregory, who finally immigrated to Portugal with his long-term on/off sweetheart, Elsie Tanner.
In his early career, Jack performed on stage with his father, music hall comedian Nosmo King before progressing to radio in such programmes as Take it from Here, Hancock's Half Hour and The Clitheroe Kid.
His television credits include roles in No Hiding Place, Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Z Cars, The Avengers, The Troubleshooters, Take Three Girls, Redgauntlet, Dixon of Dock Green, Arthur of the Britons, The Changes, Sky, The Brothers, The Georgian House, Rob Roy, A Horseman Riding By, All Creatures Great and Small, The Onedin Line, The Talisman, Dempsey and Makepiece, Casualty, Little Sir Nicholas, Minder and Heartbeat.
Film roles include Painted Boats, Peeping Tom, The Gorgon, Tobruk, Kidnapped, The Four Musketeers, Schizo, The Wild Geese, The Sea Wolves and Tangiers.
