Billy Matheson was an acquaintance of Chris Gray. In January 2011, Billy owed Chris for keeping him out of prison. In return, Billy was hired by Chris to follow Lloyd Mullaney who was on a taxi airport run. Chris also hired him to carry out several burglaries of Street Cars customers whom Lloyd did airport runs for, including Janice Battersby. Janice returned from the airport to interrupt Billy burgling her flat, but he got away. The circumstance led the police to believe Lloyd was behind the break-ins.
