Craig Brennan was an old back-packing friend of Mark Redman. When the pair bumped into each other in June 2000, Craig invited himself to stay with Mark. After telling Craig about his affair with Linda Sykes - his father Mike Baldwin's girlfriend, Craig encouraged Mark to move away from the mess. When Linda chose Mike over his son, Mark left Weatherfield with Craig heading for Thailand. The pair had got as far as Amsterdam when Mark got the devastating news from Linda that his father had suffered a heart attack.
