Plot[]

Ken is enjoying the family atmosphere at No.1. Steve tries to find out who Andy is going out with. Rita carries on working, wanting to forget about the break-in. Vera refuses to sub Jack £5 as she's saving every penny for her grandchild. Deirdre thinks Ken is getting too cosy and sets Percy up to visit him, giving the pensioner her spare key to loan Ken some books. Jack arranges to see undertaker Mr Thorpe about a pallbearing job. Ken is horrified when Phyllis joins Percy at his bedside, having heard from Alf that Percy had dropped by. They keep him company for most of the day, with Ken being too polite to turn them away. Mr Thorpe thinks Jack is a mourner at first due to his lugubrious look and leads him into the Chapel of Rest. Mr Thorpe puts Jack on his list of part-time pallbearers. Andy is embarrassed when Paula calls him at home. Rita is surprised to hear that sales representative Ted Sullivan is taking early retirement. Andy tells Steve that he's only helping Paula with her computer studies essay. Emily apologises to Ken for Percy's intrusiveness and chastises her lodger for outstaying his welcome. Percy feels underappreciated and vows not to help Ken any more. Jack is determined that Vera won't find out about his new job. Ken tells Deirdre that her and Tracy are the only company he needs. He's stunned when Deirdre explains that she's only putting up with him under sufferance and the sooner he's well enough to go home, the better.
