Plot[]
Ken and Val are worn out with Peter and Susan crying all night. Albert, Stan and Charlie are booked on the midnight train to London for the match. Charlie starts his rounds at dawn so he can get some sleep in before he goes. His customers are all caught unprepared as he's calling so early. The only exception is Albert, who collects £9 from him as his policy has matured. Lucille looks forward to her 16th birthday. Annie takes to her bed with a migraine. Lucille embarrasses Dennis at Gerard's Salon until he gives her an appointment. Albert keeps giving Lucille more socks to stitch, with Ena doing the work. Dressed in football paraphernalia, the men get drunk at the Rovers before catching their train. Jack agrees to buy the last Cup Final ticket from Albert, annoying the others as they wanted to sell the ticket at the grounds. Annie refuses to get out of bed anyway so Jack can't leave the Rovers. Stan and Charlie support opposite sides so they can bet on the winner. Minnie's television packs in and she worries that she won't be able to watch the match. Ena asks the neighbours if she and Minnie can watch with them. The men set off for London after a sing-song at the Rovers. Dennis's posh clients, Caroline Critchley and Jane Maxwell, invite him to Oulton Park motor racing circuit in Cheshire for a laugh. Ken, Val, Ena, Minnie, Elsie, David, Irma and Hilda watch the match in the Barlows' parlour. Hilda looks out for Stan on the television. David and Irma hold hands as they watch.
