Plot[]

The residents prepare for the royal visit at Granston Technical College. Trevor sends his worn out socks home for Hilda to mend and post back to him in London. Lucille revises for her O-level exams. Len arrives at No.13 to plaster a wall but Hilda puts him off. Len is annoyed as he was doing her a favour. Florrie goes to Liverpool on important business and asks Irma to mind the shop. Relief supervisor Mr Kirby checks Charlie's books. When he hears about the missing £20 he tells Charlie he wants him to see the area manager. Emily has to cancel her three-week European coach holiday when her friend lets her down as she doesn't want to go on her own. Charlie is given a week to find the money or the police will be brought in. Hilda worries that the police will want to interview her as Charlie last saw the money at the Rovers. She breaks down and blames Stan for her fragile state, saying he doesn't hand in enough money. Hilda is about to tell Stan the truth when Irma interrupts them. Len offers to go to Europe with Emily. Emily knows he isn't serious but agrees so she can make him squirm. Len is lost for words when she hands him brochures to read. Ken helps Lucille prepare for a school debate on population growth. Charlie's boss suspects him of using the money to go to the Cup Final. Hilda confesses to Irma that she took Charlie's money and has spent most of it. Irma promises her it'll all blow over.
