Elsie Tanner: "These big burning love affairs never do last. They settle down into summat else, like friendly understandin' or summat like that. Oh, the rows and the bickerin' go on but underneath is a bit of real carin', companionship. But otherwise I reckon that marriage is about the loneliest thing in this world."
Linda Cheveski: "You're a bit of a cynic on the quiet, aren't you, Mrs. T?"
Elsie Tanner: "Me? No, I'm a dirty great optimist. I keep lookin' for that rainbow round the corner."
Linda Cheveski: "You've not found it yet, 'av ye?"
Elsie Tanner: "I've come pretty near it once or twice. I'm not complainin', I've 'ad me moments and I shall very likely 'av more."
Linda Cheveski: "I just 'ope I can keep fightin' back like you do."
Elsie Tanner: "Chuck, what other choice 'av we got?"
