Plot[]
Concepta despairs as Lucille hero-worships Philippa. Behind her parents' back she experiments with make-up. Annie worries about Ken's intentions towards Philippa. Esther packs and is happy to leave. She tells only Albert, Frank and Ken that she's moving as she doesn't want a fuss. They give her an old map of the area and a transistor radio as presents. Ena realises Esther is flitting when Martha sees her cancelling her papers and Minnie sees her paying the milkman earlier than usual. Florrie refuses to confirm that Esther has cancelled her bread order. Concepta stops Lucille from going to the pictures but Harry lets her go while he takes Concepta for a walk to pick up the car. Annie tells Billy about Ken and Philippa. He pretends to be outraged before admitting that Ken already told him and they've had a laugh about it. Esther tells the Hewitts she's leaving and is persuaded to say her goodbyes at the Rovers. Ena, Minnie and Martha go to the pictures to see an 'X' rated French film with subtitles. Minnie keeps reading the captions aloud and asking Martha to recap any she misses. Ena tells off the girl sitting in front of her only to discover it's a made-up Lucille.
