Plot[]

Raquel promises Phyllis that she won't interfere with her running of the household. Rita is attracted to Ted but doesn't want to make a mistake again. Bet tells her to stop letting the ghost of Alan Bradley haunt her and go for it. Jim discovers from Mike Maddocks that the new Food Safety Act says any place that cooks and serves food on the premises must have a separate kitchen. He ventures into the Rovers although he's barred, orders a hotpot and takes it for "analysis". Alec is furious when he announces what he's doing to everyone in the pub, while Betty feels insulted. Mavis is upset that Rita continually goes to Bet for advice instead of her. Reg accuses Lord Morgan of being a "dirty old man" when he finds him in the store without a trolley squeezing the fruit. Curly delights in telling Reg who Morgan is. He's annoyed when Morgan tells Reg that he was right to challenge him about the fruit. Alec admits to Bet that he knew about the Food Safety Act and had hoped to fly under the radar. Now that the cat's out of the bag, he's going to have to spend thousands refurbishing the kitchen or stop selling food. Martin thinks Gail believes he isn't capable of passing his course. Gail says she's frightened they'll grow apart if he becomes a nurse. He assures her that she's the most important thing in his life. Derek lands a job interview. Alec tells Bet they'll have to stop serving food, and that means Betty will have to go.
