Ronald Herdman (born "Ronald Pike" on 18th September 1932 in Hartlepool, died 31st December 2004 in Scarborough) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: between September and October 1970 he appeared as food wholesaler Walter Gilfeather; and he returned to the programme in January 1977 as expectant father George Handforth.

He also appeared in Z Cars, Crown Court, The Stars Look Down, The Prince and the Pauper, Jubilee, Will Shakespeare, The Borgias, Stalky & Co., Dombey & Son, David Copperfield, Century Falls and The Wingless Bird. On the big screen, he appeared as the vicar of the first ceremony in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Mr Kettle and Mrs Moon, Lock Up Your Daughters, Eastward Ho!, The Lady from the Sea and Serjeant Musgrave's Dance.
