Connie Merigold (born 22nd September 1927 in Preston, died 6th March 2004 also in Preston) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in March 1968 as prospective corner shop purchaser Gertrude Kenny; and she returned to the programme between March and July 1974 as Gertie Robson, resident caretaker of the Community Centre.

Working for three years as a shorthand typist, she joined the Charlie Denville Repertory Theatre in Northwich at the age of twenty-one and made her professional debut in the play Quiet Weekend. When not undertaking acting roles, she supplemented her income by working for her father in his car showroom.

Making her television debut in the mid-1950s, other credits include Z Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, the regular role of Mrs. Kirkby in Tom Grattan's War, Clayhanger and Emmerdale Farm.
