June Barry (born 15th June 1935 in Lancashire, died 2nd May 2020 on the Wirral) appeared on Coronation Street between February 1961 and January 1964 as the first actress cast in the recurring role of Joan Davies, the daughter of Jack and Annie Walker. (The role was played by Dorothy White upon the character's return in May 1978).

June was an only child and was encouraged to attend music and dancing lessons but her widowed mother also insisted she attend secretarial college in order to gain a career in that field should acting prove unsuccessful.

The mezzo-soprano made her acting debut with an uncredited role in the 1961 action adventure film The Terror of the Tongs. Her other credits include roles in Yorky, Brothers in Law, Z Cars, Public Eye, A Game of Murder, Menace, Crown Court, We'll Meet Again, Dempsey and Makepiece, Spender, Mulberry and The Bill, although she remains best known for her portrayal of June Forsyte in the highly successful 1967 BBC series The Forsyte Saga.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Big Soft Nellie, Birds on the Wing and Away Match.

She was formerly married to the writer David Whitaker.
