The Lorry Driver, who worked for the firm of Haulage UK, ploughed his vehicle into a Nick's Bistro van being driven by Nick Tilsley and David Platt in August 2013. The incident occurred following the revelation that Nick slept with David's wife Kylie on Christmas Day, 2012. Returning back to Weatherfield, an angry David grabbed the steering wheel off Nick, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and stop in the middle of the road immediately before the accident.
The driver rang the emergency services while he came to the rescue of the two men although he remonstrated with David for moving his unconscious brother against all the basic tenets of first aid.
