The Macebearer carried the ceremonial mace at the official function in which Alf Roberts and Annie Walker were installed as Mayor and Mayoress of Weatherfield in May 1973. He also addressed the guests and introduced the new Mayor. He then led the party from the council chamber to a drinks reception in the room next door.
