Margo Richardson was employed as a new barmaid at the Rovers by Alec Gilroy and introduced to fellow barmaid Gloria Todd in July 1987, after Betty Turpin realised she was not wanted by Alec in the Rovers any more.
After a month or so, Bet Lynch told Alec that they couldn't afford to keep Margo on, and Alec told her that she had to go. Margo was furious and started to insult Bet. Margo had her coat thrown at her and got ordered out of the pub by Bet.
