Mrs Aldred was a patient at Weatherfield General who was being wheeled on a trolley to have an x-ray by porter Todd Grimshaw when they came upon Karl Foster in the corridor. Todd was coming to terms with his sexuality and love for Karl and the two had a somewhat ambiguous conversation about mates and how every bloke needs them which confused the old lady no end.
