Eric Longworth (born 20th July 1918 in Shaw, Oldham; died 20th August 2008 in Peterborough) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as P.C. Schofield in May 1967, on scene following the viaduct train derailment; and he returned to the programme between July and August 1976 as Nathaniel Lumley, the husband of Albert Tatlock's bingo partner, Bertha.
His other credits include Z Cars, The Big Spender, United!, The First Lady, Boy Meets Girl, Dad's Army and The Cuckoo Waltz.
He also appeared in stage productions of Dad's Army and Laburnum Grove.
