Glyn Owen (born 6th March 1928 in Bolton, died 10th September 2004 in Caernarfon, Wales) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between February and June 1965 as Norman Lindley, estranged husband of corner shop owner Florrie Lindley.
Leaving school aged fourteen, he worked as a telegraph boy during World War II before serving his two-year national service in the army. Thereafter, he was a police officer in Paddington district of London for five years and simultaneously trained at the Actors' Studio in St John's Wood.
He made his television debut in the sci-fi series The Trollenberg Terror in 1956. Other credits include roles in William Tell, Richard the Lionheart, Z Cars, The Rat Catchers, Letters from the Dead, Sentimental Education, The Brothers, Dixon of Dock Green, The Black Arrow, Crown Court, Marked Personal, The Capone Investment, Oil Strike North, Blake's 7, Doctor Who, Take the High Road, Ennal's Point, The District Nurse and Extremely Dangerous, although he will probably be best remembered for his regular roles as Doctor Patrick (Paddy) O'Meara in Emergency-Ward 10 from 1957 to 1961 and as Jack Rolfe in Howards' Way from 1985 to 1990.
Film roles include Inn for Trouble, Attack on the Iron Coast, One More Time, The Firefighters and Pandaemonium.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Long and the Short and the Tall, The Keep, London Assurance, Equus, The Hard Shoulder, Dancing at Lughnasa and Full Moon.
