Paul Shane

Paul Shane (born 19th June 1940 in Rotherham, died 16th May 2013, also in Rotherham) was an actor and comedian best known for his role as holiday camp entertainer Ted Bovis in BAFTA-winning 1980s situation comedy Hi-De-Hi!.

On Coronation Street he played two roles: firstly in January 1977 as DJ Dave-the-Rave; and he made a return to the programme in May 1979 as Frank Roper, GPO Supervisor and boss of Alf Roberts.

Paul's other TV credits include four series as devious butler Alf Stokes in You Rang, M'Lord? (1988-1993), two series as cuckolded railway porter Jack Skinner in Oh, Doctor Beeching! (1995-1997) and his own sitcom Very Big, Very Soon (1991). He has also made guest appearances in A Touch of Frost, Doctors, Holby City and Emmerdale.
