Lewis Archer conned Gail McIntyre by claiming to have pawned his father's expensive watch in order to help with repaying Gail's mother Audrey Roberts the money he owed her. Gail, feeling guilty for ruining his relationship with Audrey, had purchased the watch back from the pawn shop and gave it to him. However, Lewis had never sold the watch in the first place and met up with Charlie the pawnbroker in Victoria Street, who then split the money from the "watch sale" with him. Lewis received £300 and Charlie kept £100 for his part of the scam.
