David Roper (born 20th June 1944 in Bradford) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in January 1975 as P.C. Sadler, who caught up with Eddie Yeats when he skipped parole from Walton Jail; and he returned to the programme between February and March 2000 as Bob Bradshaw, a corrupt council planning officer, who briefly dated the newly-divorced Alma Halliwell.

His other television credits include roles in Crown Court, Capstick's Law, The Gift, Brookside, Harry, Ain't Misbehavin, Taggart, Heartbeat, Doctors, Holby City, Casualty and Emmerdale, along with the regular roles of Chris Hawthorn in the 1970s sitcom The Cuckoo Waltz, Charlie Fisher in Leave It to Charlie and Geoff Barnes in EastEnders.

On stage, he has appeared in productions of Macbeth, Mirandolina, Charley's Aunt, Volpone, Flight, In Camera, The Browning Version, Othello, Jumpers, Vivat! Vivat Regina! and Time and Time Again for Bristol Old Vic. Other works include Fear and Misery of the Third Reich, Bingo, Funny Peculiar, Mulligan's Last Case, The Oresteia, The Mysteries, Richard III and An Inspector Calls.
