Peter Colin Childs (born 30th August 1937 in Eastbourne, died 1st November 1989 in Sutton, London) appeared on Coronation Street in five roles:
- A policeman in December 1968
- Taxi driver Charlie Braddock in January 1971
- Cliff Mottram, a short-term boyfriend of Bet Lynch in April 1978
- Insurance agent Mr. Emery in December 1980
- Retailer Frank Tyler between October and November 1984.
His best known television role was that of DS Rycott on Minder in the 1980s. His other credits include Crossroads, The Onedin Line, Crown Court, Public Eye, Softly Softly: Task Force, Rumpole of the Bailey, Going Out, Tucker's Luck, Juliet Bravo, Doctor Who, Knights of God and Divided We Stand.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Beggar's Opera, Mother Courage and her Children, A Close Shave, The Changing Room, Crete and Sergeant Pepper, The Curse of the Werewolf and The Foreigner.
He succumbed to leukaemia, aged 52.
