The Reporter worked for the Weatherfield Gazette and came to the Rovers Return in February 2010 to interview barmaid Betty Williams a few days before her 90th birthday.

Betty was reluctant to talk to the reporter, since she didn't think that anyone would be interested in reading an article about her, but informed him that she pulled her first pint in 1969 and had seen many changes behind the bar. Explaining how she used to work under Mrs Walker and alongside Bet Lynch (that was), it had been established that Betty was the oldest barmaid in the North-West.

Landlady Liz McDonald, who was also present during the interview, was put out however when the reporter asked whether she too was working at the Rovers when Betty first started, retorting that she was "barely out of nappies" at the time.
