Following the recent, tragic death of Liam Connor and concerned about his fiancée's state of mind, Tony Gordon invited the Reverend Todd round to the couple's flat to offer his condolences and some words of comfort to a grieving Carla. On arriving back to the flat, Carla was startled to find the Reverend there and still upset and bitter over Liam's death became dismissive toward him.
In an attempt to divert from the tension that was visibly present, Tony, still eager to forge ahead with arrangements for their wedding - which was booked for the following week, suggested they should get some of the details finalised whilst they had the opportunity. An angry Carla told the Reverend that they would be in touch and breaking down, informed Tony that the wedding was off.
