Peter Hill (born 9th March 1932 in Lambeth, London; died 29th December 1995 in Malvern) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as Doctor Harris in November 1968; and he returned to the programme in November 1976 as Sergeant Cottam, who investigated the disappearance of Stan Ogden when he went missing (having walked out on wife Hilda, sick of her nagging).

Best remembered in the role of Arthur Brownlow in the ITV soap opera Crossroads between 1979 and 1982 (a role briefly played by Brian Haines in 1976), his other credits include roles in General Hospital, A Little Bit of Wisdom, Thriller, the regular part of Fred Gates in the period serial The Cedar Tree, Target, In Loving Memory and The Professionals.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Henry V, Mother Courage and her Children, Narrow Road to the Deep North, Macbeth and Pinocchio for the Library Theatre, Manchester.
