The Sonographer based at Weatherfield General performed a scan on the heavily-pregnant Maria Connor in April 2009. Admitting that she had cancelled an appointment the previous week, Tony Gordon agreed to accompany Maria and also went into the ultrasound room for moral support.

Putting Maria at ease given that her previous pregnancy resulted in a stillbirth, the Sonographer clarified that all was well with the foetus - a strong heartbeat, good growth, normal fluid levels - and the only thing she need worry about was whether to buy pink or blue Babygros.

Deciding that she couldn't stand not knowing any longer, Maria was told that she was expecting a baby boy.
