Peter Edward Wallis (born 5th August 1925 in Hunslet, Leeds; died 23rd May 2008 in Otley, West Yorkshire) appeared on Coronation Street in four roles:
- A postman who delivered to the Rovers Return Inn in April 1973
- Morbid tourist Mr. McGill, who turned up on the street during the investigation into the murder of Lynn Johnson in January 1975
- Viaduct Garage customer Tony Newall, who saw Brian Tilsley driving round in his car with wife Gail and mother-in-law Audrey Potter. He reported Brian and got him (temporarily) sacked in October 1980
- Hayley Patterson's Great Uncle Bert, in attendance at her "wedding" to Roy Cropper in April 1999.
For many years he was part of Leeds-based comedy act with his three sisters and brother but later branched out into acting and went solo. One of his first credited acting roles was in the John Finch-scripted Granada series Sam in 1973 and he followed this up with roles in several editions of the BBC's Play for Today as well as Crown Court, Emmerdale Farm, Last of the Summer Wine, Open All Hours, Heartbeat, Playing the Field and Always and Everyone. On the big screen, he had a small part in the highly successful 1996 film Brassed Off while on radio, he had a regular role in the late 1970s series You've Got to be Joking.
