Wanda was an employee of Bettabuy supermarket in 1991. When Kimberley Taylor heard her giggling with two female colleagues in the staff canteen over something in a magazine, she demanded to know what they found so funny. Wanda replied it was nothing, so an irritated Kimberley made a swift exit. Raquel Wolstenhulme then joined Wanda and her friends and took a keen interest in the magazine, deciding to take it with her as they left the canteen. Wanda objected that she had paid for it but Raquel insisted it was only for now, as she wanted it for something in particular.

Raquel then showed acting manager Curly Watts that the magazine's problem page featured a letter, apparently written by Kimberley, describing her ex-fiance's unwanted sexual attentions. Curly confronted Kimberley but she denied penning the letter.
