Winifred Willis was the mother of Marion Yeats.
By 1983, she was living in Bury and was a widow. She arrived in Weatherfield for her daughter's wedding, managing to convince her to marry in a church. She was initially resistant to having Eddie Yeats as a son-in-law but later revealed she liked him after all.
She suffered a stroke after Eddie and Marion returned from their honeymoon. Her condition prompted the newly-married couple to move to Bury in December of that year so they could take care of her. She became a grandmother soon afterwards with the birth of Dawn Yeats in May 1984.
