Can we clear up who was working during the 61/62 Equity strike? The list of characters who were on the show during this time on the Equity Strike page on this site doesn't mention Billy Walker and Dennis Tanner, but they seem to be appearing in episodes well in 1962.

Billy Walker had left the programme already (in Episode 67 (2nd August 1961)) well before the strike started. I agree that my sentence regarding Dennis Tanner is ambiguous. Thanks for pointing this out and I've now changed it to hopefully make it clearer. The characters listed in the same sentence that I've just changed on the page are the ones that stayed with the programme throughout the term of the strike - 13 in all plus one more with Dennis. Everyone else disappeared, either until 1962 or for good.--Jtomlin1uk 17:22, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks John. Do we know how the strike was resolved? Did Equity get the 36 guineas they wanted? Derek P 21:42, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

No - I've noticed a trend when researching these matters that whereas newspapers report the very vocal claims of both sides before and during a dispute, they are almost always silent when it comes to the agreed terms that finish a dispute!!! I may find something if I dig further (perhaps "The Stage" - I'll give it a go next week) but so far the only info I came across easily were the agreed terms to finish the ITV Colour Strike.--Jtomlin1uk 09:08, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

I did find lots of info in "The Stage" and have added it to the page in question. Hope your queries are all answered.--Jtomlin1uk 21:32, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

That's great J, many thanks. Derek P 00:04, January 17, 2010 (UTC)
