Should certain characters, who are in an awful lot of episodes, be upgraded from "guest" to "regular"? Two who spring to mind are Walter Potts and Aidan Critchley. Thoughts?--Jtomlin1uk 13:52, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

I hate this question! I'd agree that those two are probably regulars though, I'd change them.
I'd also suggest that we use this thread for future discussions on this, rather than individual character talk pages or elsewhere, as it keeps similar discussions all in one place. David 13:19, August 10, 2010 (UTC)
Agree that it's a problem question - and it really only seems to get some sort of clarity once you realise how many episodes an individual has been in added to how long they were in the role. Characters like Edna Gee and Lewis Archer are more problematic (especially the first of the two)--Jtomlin1uk 23:31, August 13, 2010 (UTC)
Funny you should mention Lewis Archer. With storylines being dragged out for longer than they used to, recurring guests are staying for a while - Lewis left tonight having joined in December, but was clearly never intended to be around for longer than Audrey's escort storyline. I don't claim to know how the storylining works, but I'd guess that the writers at least had a vague idea of where they were going with the Lewis storyline when he first appeared. "Regular" to me indicates a character introduced without an ending in mind. If only it were as simple as character lives on the street=regular! David 23:56, August 13, 2010 (UTC)
