Frank Pettingell (born 1st January 1891 in Liverpool, died 17th February 1966 in London) appeared on Coronation Street in August 1961 as James Nugent, father of Emily.
After being educated at Manchester University he became an artist, then a journalist and finally an actor. He made his stage debut in 1910 and his film debut in 1931, appearing in many productions including The Good Companions, Sing As We Go!, Gaslight, Escape and Meet Mr. Lucifer.
Television credits included roles in The Gay Cavalier, An Age of Kings, Our House, Probation Officer, The Spread of the Eagle and No Hiding Place.
On stage, he appeared in productions of What Every Woman Knows, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, Yellow Sands, Magnolia Street, Spring 1600, The Frog, The Golden Cuckoo, Arsenic and Old Lace, Daphne Laureola, When We Are Married, Roseland and The Reluctant Peer.
