Gabriel Kern appeared on Coronation Street in September 1998 as a Passer By, approached by Les Battersby looking for daughter Toyah around the streets of Leytonstone.

Born and raised in East London, he was introduced to theatre at the age of seven and also worked for the BBC in his early years. He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company aged thirteen and worked on productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor, Women Beware Women and Twelfth Night. After leaving school he worked in a variety of jobs to raise the fees to attend drama school. He also works with his own Manchester-based film and theatre company and teaches as a freelance Drama Adviser in secondary education.

His other on-screen credits include roles in Gobsmacked, Hollyoaks, Brookside, Stay Lucky, The New Statesman, Minder, Beau Jest, The Citadel and Doctor Who, while on stage he has appeared in productions of All My Sons, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Keys to Murder, Betrayal, The Hard Man, Day in the Death of Joe Egg, Bent, Loot, Importance, Multiple Choice, West Side Story, Oliver and Mrs H of Baker St.
