George was the abusive stepfather of Carla Connor and Rob Donovan.
When growing up Carla and Rob were mistreated by George and grew to hate him. George was widowed in June 2011 when their mother Sharon passed away, and he in turn suffered a fatal heart attack in March 2014. The news initially reached Rob who then informed Carla by phone, and although they both despised him, they were still stunned by his death. Carla especially was hit hard as it brought back unhappy memories of her childhood and made her unsure whether or not to keep her unborn child in fear of being just as bad a mother as her own.
