George Shaw and his wife were the parents of a pupil of Bessie Street School in 1972. In May of that year, they attended a PTA meeting, although the occasion of both of them attending was rare as Mrs Shaw explained to Hilary Dodds - it was difficult to interest her night shift-working husband, who was only there as his work was on strike. George made no attempt to argue with his formidable wife.
