Gerald Sim (4th June 1925 - 11th December 2014) appeared on Coronation Street as Ted Farrell. A wartime sweetheart of Betty Turpin and father to Gordon Clegg, he briefly returned on a visit to the area in June 1982.

Born in Liverpool, the family moved south to Croydon and he was educated at Cranbrook School in Kent, and graduated from RADA in 1945. He made his debut with an uncredited role in the 1947 film Fame Is the Spur. Other credits include roles in The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre, Z Cars, Crossroads, Dixon of Dock Green, The Avengers, Crown Court, General Hospital, The Foundation, Bergerac, Keeping Up Appearances and To the Manor Born.

What a Lovely War, The Madwoman of Chaillot, Mischief, The Man Who Haunted Himself, The Last Grenade, Doctor in Trouble, Ryan's Daughter, The Raging Moon, Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Kadoyng, Frenzy, Young Winston, Dr. Phibes Rises Again, No Sex Please, We're British, A Bridge Too Far, Gandhi, Cry Freedom, Number One Gun, Patriot Games, Chaplin and Shadowlands.

On stage he appeared in productions of Daughter Janie, Any Other Business, An Early Life, Macbeth and Murder Once Done.
