Heather Williams appeared on Coronation Street in February 1987 as Sister Coles, one of the medical staff at Weatherfield General who cared for Gail Tilsley when she went into labour with daughter Sarah Louise, one month prematurely.

She studied Drama at Hull University where she met the late Oscar-winning writer/director Anthony Minghella, and spent her early career performing in theatres all over the country. In 1991 she began a long association with Bristol Old Vic, performing in: Lovers, Winners, I Can Give You A Good Time, Epsom Downs, Yerma, Blithe Spirit, An Enemy of the People, Romeo and Juliet, The Decent Thing, Under Milk Wood , Myrtle On the Main Line, Aladdin, Mother Goose, Dick Whittington and Sleeping Beauty, while since 2004 she has been Artistic Director of Myrtle Theatre Company.

Other credits include roles in Grange Hill, Alfonso Bonzo, Casualty, The House of Eliott and Grandpa in My Pocket, along with the TV movie Aladdin and the Forty Thieves and the 1990 feature film Truly Madly Deeply.
