Henry Robottom was a police constable who in 1930 investigated a complaint against Ivy Makepiece, who had joked in the Rovers Return that she would kill off a few more tenants because of the amount the insurance company paid out after the death of her lodger Jack Jinks. Henry found nothing suspicious at 11 Coronation Street and in fact was talked into renting the spare room himself! He stayed for two years.
