Howell Evans (3rd March 1928 - 9th September 2014) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in September 1985 as Newton & Ridley accountant Barry Jarvis who went over the Rovers' books and conducted a stocktake; and he returned to the programme in June 2000 as photographer Tegwin Thomas, who took a professional picture of the four generations of the Platt/Roberts family.

Born in Maesteg, Glamorgan, he first performed as an impressionist during World War II. Thereafter he joined the Carroll Lewis Discovery Show, and formed a comedy double act with his wife Pat Kane. They worked together for many years in music hall, variety shows and pantomime.

With an acting CV dating back to the early 1950s, other credits include roles in The Davy Jones Saga, How Green Was My Valley, Suspense, Crossroads, Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Softly Softly, Z Cars, Open All Hours, District Nurse, The Lifeboat, The Bill, Aquila, Casualty, The Story of Tracy Beaker, Doctors, Benidorm, The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby, Holby City and Stella.

Film credits include Down Among the Z Men, Behind the Headlines, Only Two Can Play, The Ipcress File, Old Scores, The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, Arthur's Dyke, Plotz with a View and Mr. Nice.
