Ivor Roberts (19th July, 1925 - 5th September, 1999) played two roles on Coronation Street: Tommy Silcock in 1972 and George Daly in 1987. His other credits include Crossroads, The Sweeney, Rumpole of the Bailey and You Rang, M'Lord?

Born in Nottingham, Roberts played in rep for 12 years before a lack of perceived success and the birth of his first child forced him to leave the profession and take up other work including managing cinemas in London. He moved back into the theatrical profession as a producer and then worked for five years as a television continuity announcer. After that he returned to acting and gained his first television role in The Man from Haven in 1972.
