Jacqueline Pilton appeared on Coronation Street in two different roles: firstly she played Freshco butcher's counter customer Mrs Payne in March 2000; and she returned to the programme in November 2016 as the Old Lady, who was the next-door neighbour to Vinny Ashford.
She trained to be an actress at Manchester University and has appeared on television in Wives and Daughters, Cold Feet, Heartbeat and Blackpool. On film she has played roles in Pierrepoint, Chromophobia and The Bear Hunt.
Her stage career includes parts in The Taming of the Shrew, She Stoops to Conquer, Girl's Night Out and Billy Lair. She co-starred in a two-hander production of The Comedy of Errors at the Oldham Coliseum and she is also the writer of a one-woman play, Margaret Rutherford Recalled which was a finalist in the Best New Play Award category at the Buxton Festival in 2000.
