James Mair is a Manchester-based actor who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He has played three roles on Coronation Street:
- DS Downing in February 2002
- Fire investigator Ian Swan in November 2002
- A Custody Officer, making intermittent appearances between November 2009 and August 2022.
His other credits include roles in Peak Practice, The Vacillations of Poppy Carew, The Bill, Soldier Soldier, Into the Blue, Heartbeat, Linda Green, Emmerdale, The Royal and Last Tango in Halifax.
On stage he has appeared in productions of The Silver Tassie, South Pacific, Sinbad, Romeo and Juliet, Jude the Obscure, Heap and Bartholomew Fair.
