James McMartin (born in Liverpool) appeared on Coronation Street in two minor roles: in April 1991 as Alan, who met Steph Barnes on a skiing trip in Italy; and in March 1999 he returned to the programme as Darren Dobbs, father of Tyrone.
Previously working as a bouncer in his home city to supplement his income as a jobbing actor, his credits include roles in Emmerdale, Bread, Chancer, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and Heartbeat. He also co-wrote and appeared in the 2006 feature film Dead Man's Cards.
