Playwright and actress Jane Godber (born 1961) appeared on Coronation Street in October 2002 as Annie Woodford, a victim of a mugging which was witnessed by Peter Barlow and Lucy Richards.

She is married to writer and director John Godber and the couple work together at Hull Truck Theatre where she performs and produces. She has written twelve plays including All the Fun of the Fight, I Want That Hair, Everyday Heroes and Thick as a Brick. She also worked with husband John on the BAFTA-winning screenplay of Odd Squad and was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 1986.

Also credited as "Jane Thornton", she has appeared in All Creatures Great and Small, My Kingdom for a Horse, Law of the Land, Heartbeat, Hollyoaks and the 1998 film Up 'n' Under.
