The Jeweller at Walcott and Bardell served Peter Barlow and Carla Connor when they came to buy an engagement ring in July 2013. Carla, by her own admission, felt like she was a kid in a sweet shop and chose one with a platinum band containing a one carat diamond with a "princess" cut which retailed at £4,500. The jeweller had been laying it on thick with Carla and she was taken with the choice but Peter was less so with the price. He wanted to look at some cheaper stock but Carla talked him round with pleas and he accepted an offer from her that she contributed to the cost.
