Joe Buck and his family inhabited 9 Coronation Street from 1910 to 1926.

Parents Ned and Sarah and children Larry, Joe and Alice, lived in a one-room tenement in Inkerman Street before moving to Coronation Street. All of them worked at Hardcastle's Mill.

Joe worked in the mill's dyeing stores and was 16 in 1910. It was there that he met his future wife Kelly, who handled yards of material from the dyeing vats into clean water. They got married on 9th March 1913 at St. Mary's Church and moved into No.9's front parlour. Exactly nine months later, their son Jim was born.

Returning from the war, Joe discovered he'd been replaced at work and so he, Kelly and Jim moved to Canada for a new life there.

Joe first appeared in Daran Little and Bill Hill's "Weatherfield Life", published in 1992. Other information is derived from Little's follow-up book, "Around the Coronation Street Houses".
