John Bailey (26th June 1912 - 11th February 1989) appeared in Coronation Street in November 1969 as Doctor Grant who treated Ray Langton after the Lake District coach crash.

He worked in television from the start of the BBC's regular service in 1936, appearing in their very first drama production, Scenes from the play "Marigold" broadcast on Friday 6th November that year from Alexandra Palace, just five days after the commencement of transmissions.

He also appeared in BBC Sunday-Night Theatre, Sword of Freedom, The Adventures of Sir Lancelot, Ivanhoe, Armchair Theatre, No Hiding Place, The Saint, Emergency-Ward 10, The Forsyte Saga, The Wednesday Play, Doctor Who, Journey to the Unknown, The Avengers, Department S, Dixon of Dock Green , Special Branch, Van der Valk , Holocaust and Tales of the Unexpected.

Film roles include The Franchise Affair, The Hostage, Rasputin: The Mad Monk and Personal Services. Stage roles include Love's Labours Lost at the Aldwych Theatre.
